Pope County: Woodland Restoration

  • 11/02/2013
  • 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM
  • Illinois Forest Resource Center
If you want some practical experience fighting invasives, then this is the event you've been waiting for.  Volunteers are needed for a three-hour work session at the Illinois Forest Resource Center in Dixon Springs.

Meet at the Pavilion, and all are welcome to help remove an understory invasion of burning bush at the Center.  A bean pot and cornbread meal will be served at noon when you can swap stories and ask questions.

Please wear long sleeves, long pants, no sandals.  All tools will be provided, but bring your own gloves.  If you have your own chainsaw, it would be best to bring it, since you are more familiar with its operation.  If you have a pesticide license, please have that ready.

Directions:

The Forest Resource Center is located at the Dixon Springs Agricultural Center on Highway 145 (25 miles south of Harrisburg, 4 miles north of 145/146 junction, 16 miles east of Vienna, 14 miles west of Golconda).
