Forest Health Workshop

Extension Forestry is partnering with the Illinois DNR and the Morton Arboretum to host a series of three Forest Health Workshops early this November.

The 2018 Forest Health Workshops are designed for foresters, forest landowners, commercial arborists, urban and municipal foresters, and allied green industry professionals. The workshops will include class instruction on field diagnostics, updates on identification, biology, and management of insect pests, diseases, and abiotic agents. Workshop will culminate with a field diagnostic walk.

Topics include:

  • Basic field diagnostics
  • Updates on insects, diseases, and abiotic agents
  • Oak and conifer decline
  • Herbicide drift and leaf tatters
  • Invasive plants and insects
  • Update on thousand cankers disease (TCD) of black walnut

This workshop will be offered November 1 in Springfield, November 2 in Mount Carroll, and November 8 in Marion.

All Workshops:

8:30 a.m. - 3 p.m. (Registration begins at 8:00 a.m.)

$20 registration - pay at door

Registration to each workshop is on a first-come first-serve basis and will be limited to the first 30 applicants.

Registration fee will include morning and afternoon refreshments, lunch, and workshop supplies.

CEUs will be offered for certified arborists and foresters.
