Dinner Meeting on Woodland Tax Liability

The Northwest Illinois Forestry Association will hold its Annual Dinner Meeting Tuesday, April 4th, 7:00 pm at the Mt. Carroll Church of God. This year’s program will feature a panel discussion on How Timberland is Assessed for Property Tax Purposes.

Featured Program: Many new and existing landowners are unclear as to how forested property is assessed for taxation. Even less understood are the options available to manage tax liability. Several common timber landowner taxation scenarios will be presented to a panel for their elaboration and input on options to consider. Panelists will include: Illinois Dept. of Natural Resources District Forester; Tom Walsh – Winnebago County Supervisor of Assessments; Tom Sleeter – estate planning professional with Heartland Capital Resources; and Jim Johannsen – Jo Daviess Conservation Foundation Easement Manager. The panel will be moderated by Jay Solomon, Illinois Cooperative Extension Advisor. An audience question and answer period with the panel will conclude the discussion. The public is invited to hear this presentation.

Tickets for the dinner will be $12.00 with reservations which should be made by April 1st by calling Dick Pouzar at 815-777-8157, email at pouzar@yahoo.com, or mailing to: NIFA, 2303 W Cording Rd., Galena IL 61036-9730. Without reservations, tickets are $15 at the door.

Location: The Church of God is located on the northeast corner of the Hwy 52/64 and Hwy 78 intersection in Mt. Carroll.
