FALL FIELD DAYS - ILLINOIS WALNUT COUNCIL
   both IWC Members and the Public are invited
 
We ask that attendees please bring: Friday lunch, drinking water, insect repellent, a chair, field clothing (no shorts), tree finder books (available  for $5.00).  Pre-registration is required - see contact at bottom below.
          
LOCATION:

Helen Hinde Tree Farm - SW corner of Concord and Catalpa Roads.  GPS - N39, 48’, 04,6”, W 090, 19’, 14.3”.   Directions from I-72, exit 60.   Take US 67 north toward Beardstown/Macomb, drive 6 miles to County Road Maintenance Building on right side of US 67.     Turn north onto Mt. Zion Road. for ½ mile,    then turn Left on Apple Road for  aprox. 21/2 miles, when Apple Road tees,      turn right on Base Line Road.,   Drive ½ mile then turn left on Catalpa Road.     Drive 1 mile to Hinde Tree Farm.

  by  John Torbert & Chris Short
      Chris, a local firewood dealer and arborist will demonstrate
      his tracked skidder, loader and our lumberjack will fell trees.
 
9:30 a.m. Timber Harvest and Sales 
  Planning, Marking, Measuring, Contracts, Marketing
  by  Steve Felt, Dan Schmoker and John Torbert
 
11:30 a.m. Pruning 
 
Noon  Box lunch provided
 
1:00 p.m. Thinning - Why thin?  How to do it
  Crop Tree Release Methods and Techniques, Tools and
  Equipment
 
3:00 p.m. Closing
